    • Work in a team dedicated to helping individuals make positive life changes.
    • Full-time, fixed-term contract until August 2025 based in Werribee.
    • Competitive salary range of $92,332 - $104,762 per annum (plus super) with annual increments.

Community Correctional Services (CCS) is a vital state-wide service responsible for managing offenders on court orders, supervising serious sex offenders post-sentence, and overseeing parolees.

Evidence indicates that individuals reintegrating into the community after serving time in prison benefit from transitional support to minimize the risk of reoffending.

Why we are passionate about this work

Community-based rehabilitation, when appropriate based on a person's risk profile, proves to be more effective in addressing offending behavior than prolonged incarceration.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to listen to others' stories, understand their perspectives, and hold them accountable for their choices. You will play a role in offering offenders a second chance to positively contribute to the community.

Your role may pose challenges, but with a strong work ethic and belief in the impact of your work, you can take pride in your contributions and experience the fulfillment of positively influencing someone else's life.

Advanced Practitioners handle a caseload of complex and high-risk offenders on court orders, many of whom have served part of their sentence in custody. They leverage evidence-based frameworks to provide dynamic case management with individuals who have intricate needs and those who have committed serious offenses.

You will assist complex and high-risk clients in meeting their court-mandated conditions, linking them with community programs and services. Additionally, you will lead and guide staff, ensuring the delivery of quality, evidence-based case management to clients.

Some of your daily responsibilities include:

    • Conducting risk assessments.
    • Developing case plans.
    • Offering interventions.
    • Coordinating service providers and care teams.
    • Addressing the underlying causes of criminal behavior.
    • Guiding and developing case management staff.

    Perks of this role:

    • A competitive salary package.
    • Generous leave entitlements.
    • Transparent performance evaluation system.
    • Employee Wellbeing support.
    • Comprehensive training at the beginning and throughout your career.
    • Opportunities for secondments and promotions.
    • Read more about our benefits on our official website.

    Qualifications for Advanced Practitioners:

At CCS, we frequently offer new opportunities to promising candidates transitioning from other professions. We also provide support to current staff for career advancement.

    We seek individuals with:

    • Demonstrated expertise in effective case management practices with complex clients.
    • Strong verbal communication skills and confidence in handling individuals with challenging behaviors.
    • Proven ability to model positive behaviors to a caseload of individuals.
    • A dedication to supporting clients within the justice system while enhancing community safety.
    • Capability to lead and mentor staff members to achieve their best.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is actively striving to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Aboriginal) individuals in our workforce. Our Aboriginal Employment Team is focused on attracting, recruiting, and retaining Aboriginal staff across various roles, such as prison officers, community corrections officers, and field officers. We have established a culturally sensitive recruitment process. To learn more, please visit our official website.

    CHILD SAFE STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT:

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people. We are committed to preventing any form of harm to children and young people and have a zero-tolerance policy towards racism, child abuse, and inequality. We emphasize the recognition and respect of children and young people's rights, relationships, identity, and culture. Their voices should be heard, and their concerns promptly addressed. Our goal is to create a culturally safe, child-friendly environment for all children we interact with, provide services to, or impact through our work.
