    Description

    THE ROLE

    The Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Advisor provides expert advice and raises awareness among Child Protection practitioners working with Aboriginal children. They engage with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and community services organizations to enhance outcomes through the advancement of self- determination initiatives for Aboriginal children, families, and communities. Although not responsible for developing cultural plans, this role offers crucial cultural expertise and guidance to support child protection practitioners in the cultural planning process and ensure cultural plan adherence. The pivotal function of this role is to help Aboriginal children stay connected to their community, enhance resilience, and facilitate their retention within the family unit.

    The position also entails focusing on enhancing and implementing processes in the designated area, aligning results with relevant divisional policies and procedures.

      Engaging with children, their families, and support networks. Collaborating with fellow practitioners and services, as well as exchanging knowledge.

      Solving problems, making well-informed practice decisions, implementing enhancements, and managing budgets to achieve optimal outcomes.
    • Leading and Inspiring
      Providing practice leadership to families and stakeholders, guiding and developing colleagues, and striving to enhance the existing systems within the DFFH.
