    Position Overview:


    Under the supervision of the Wastewater Surveillance Program Supervisor, the Wastewater Surveillance Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the wastewater surveillance program for Harris County.

    This position will streamline partnership development, coordinate day-to-day activities of the wastewater surveillance team, and conduct the analysis and dissemination of wastewater data to determine disease and health patterns within the population.

    This position supports OESED and reports to the Wastewater Program Surveillance Supervisor.


    Duties & Responsibilities:


    Coordinates daily operations of wastewater surveillance program projects, including the development and maintenance of strong relationships with external prospective and current partners.

    Plans, develops, and implements wastewater surveillance projects with direction from the Program Supervisor.

    Tracks project progress to ensure deliverable deadlines are met; identify challenges, unmet needs and work collaboratively with Surveillance Program Supervisor to develop solutions to advance the goals of the project.


    Oversee all wastewater surveillance data received, conduct analysis, management, interpretation and use information to develop and implement operational plans with direction from the Surveillance Program Supervisor.

    Guide the development of HCPH wastewater dashboard.


    Develop or contribute to the development of documents such as standard operating guides, workflows, program updates, or other special reports.

    Maintain a process for evaluation and improvement of projects.

    Performs other assigned duties, including special tasks related to responding to emergency events.

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or related field.

    Experience:
    At least two (2) years of extensive Public Health or related field experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software including 365 programs, and epidemiology software (such as Maven).
    Knowledge of infectious disease surveillance systems in Texas and Texas infectious disease law
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
    Excellent interpersonal and team management skills

    Knowledge of the standard principles and methods of epidemiology and related biostatistics necessary for epidemiological investigations, public health surveillance, investigations, and studies.

    Ability to work discretely and maintain confidentiality.
    Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

    Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

    This is A Grant-Funded | Full-Time position
    Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
    Other days and hours as necessary.
    Telework option available after 90 days of consecutive employment.


    Work Environment:
    This job operates in a professional office environment.
    This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This job may require off-site visits to locations inside of Harris County.

    Physical Demands:


    This is a largely sedentary role; however, some duties would require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
