    This role is for a Scientist in the Separations and Mass Spectrometry competency team as part of Electronics & Industrial (E&I) Leveraged Analytical Sciences (LAS), at Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE.

    Please note this is an onsite position.


    The candidate will work across multiple projects with co-workers and stakeholders so effective team skills and the ability to communicate needs, progress, and results are critical.

    A self-starter that can work independently with technical support is desired.

    Good interpersonal skills are also required as the individual will be required to interact with lab customers (internal to DuPont).

    High initiative and effective organizational skills are also beneficial as many projects have short notice and fast turnaround time needs.

    At times many projects may be initiated and conducted concurrently. Opportunities exist to acquire additional skills and responsibilities for career development.


    Your Key Responsibilities:
    Independently conduct various separations and/or mass spectrometry experiments and analyze/interpret data to provide insights to solve business problems.

    Propose and implement improvements in lab operations to optimize efficiency, minimize downtime and improve data quality

    Participate in cross-functional teams to provide scientific insights and execute project tasks

    Lead small projects focused on investigating technical problems and proposing solutions

    Develop and validate new separations and/or mass spectrometry methods for data acquisition and analysis

    Communicate results and findings effectively to stakeholders and peers

    Maintain lab equipment and manage lab supplies and reagents to ensure smooth lab functioning.


    Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures, including appropriate handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, and develop and implement safety protocols to minimize risks to staff and equipment.


    Stay abreast of the latest developments in analytical technology and industry practices, and work with other SMEs to explore new applications and techniques that could benefit the company.


    Your Qualification Profile:
    Bachelor of Science degree required or recently graduated with a Master's of Science

    5 years of work experience in a similar role is strongly preferred

    Strong general analytical chemistry laboratory skills, computer skills, and writing skills and are highly desired.

    Be a competent and experienced Subject Matter Expert in multiple separations and mass spectrometry techniques (LC, GC, GC/MS, GPC, pyrolysis-GC, Orbitrap LC/MS)

    Independently be able to solve well-defined problems

    Demonstrate creativity in problem solving as well as propose changes to protocol to enhance results

    Have a learning mindset and transform new information into better practices

    Engage in the separations competency and be responsible for keeping the lab operating effectively

    Build partnerships across the LAS group and the rest of E&I to resolve problems

    Strong communication and documentation skills to keep partners and co-workers informed on timelines and results

    Can give and receive feedback effectively to improve their performance as well as the performance of the lab

    Be safety role model and be responsible for lab performance, training personnel and conducting safety audits

    Preferred Qualifications
    Strong Chemical and Polymer characterization and analytical problem-solving skills

    Experience in advanced separations mass spectrometry techniques and instrumentation (LC, GC, GC/MS, GPC, pyrolysis-GC, Orbitrap LC/MS)

    Familiarity with chromatography data systems

    Skilled at handling and accurate preparation of samples for analysis


    Having the experience and understanding of the wide variety of chemistries involved in DuPont products and processes is highly valued.

    Strong mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot instrumental problems
