    Collections & Billing Representative - Hybrid - St Louis, United States - Cigna

    POSITION SUMMARY
    Responsible for contacting insurance companies, collecting, posting and managing account payments, resolving escalated billing issues.

    This position will use a combination of analytical, problem solving and communication skills while blending excellent customer service with persuasive collection efforts.

    The role requires judgment and initiative while following established guidelines to reach payment resolution. Interaction with various departments is often necessary in order to resolve member issues.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Technical expert with depth or breadth of knowledge within Enrollment/Billing.
    • Audits accounts and enrollment/billing processes to identify improper charges, validate transactions, and ensure accurate and timely payment of amounts due.
    • May identify and recover debts due to the organization and refer delinquent accounts to external collection agencies.
    • Handle patient phone calls and answer questions regarding patient statements/invoices.
    • May manage specific Enrollment/Billing processes and programs.
    • Provides guidance, coaching, and direction to more junior team members of the team.
    • Acts independently working under limited supervision.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • HS Degree (or equivalent).
    • 2+ years' experience of healthcare/insurance collections.
    • PC Skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel (pivot tables, formulas, v-lookups), Word and Internet.
    • Professional and courteous phone presence.
    • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
    • Self-starter and team player.
    • Focus on quality and service.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage a heavy workload.
    • Integrity to handle sensitive or confidential information is critical.
