- Legal Research using Westlaw and other resources.
- Document management; information management.
- Drafting letters, pleadings, proposed orders and memoranda.
- Tracking case data, caseload distribution, maintaining calendars for administrative hearings and court appearances and deadlines.
- Working with investigators and organizing investigation files
- Preparing and organizing hearing exhibits
- Assisting the Division Chief with a variety of administrative tasks.
- Assisting with division events including meetings and continuing education programs.
- Communicating with state agency staff, opposing attorneys, court staff.
- Communicating with witnesses, preparing witness subpoenas, arranging for service of process.
- Reviewing, analyzing and responding to inquiries.
- Summarizing hearing transcripts for appellate brief writers.
- Preparing document appendices for appeals in the Law Court.
- Providing administrative hearing support to prosecuting attorneys.
- Proofreading and editing documents.

Job Description:
The Office of the Attorney General is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill a full-time (40 hours/week) paralegal position located in our Augusta Office.
This individual will provide in-office support for heavy administrative law caseloads of Assistant Attorneys General in the Professional and Financial Regulation Division.
Duties include:
The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic about a career in a government setting, be self-directed, highly organized, efficient and accurate with excellent writing skills and the ability to work independently.
The candidate must have strong computer skills and be proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills for working with attorneys and staff at all levels, the courts, the public, co-workers and supervisors and have strong communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Training, education, or experiences in office and administrative support work that demonstrates competencies in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of law firm, court, or legal services processes with the ability to research complex legal issues and analyze legal problems -OR- graduation from an approved, accredited paralegal program of instruction.
