    ELIGIBILITY:
    Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.


    CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK:

    Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.


    PROBATION:
    All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.


    CLASS DESCRIPTION


    A Registered Nurse - School Health (10 Months) cares for patients in schools clinics, homes, and other community settings under the direction of a nursing supervisor or other health professional.

    Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities .

    Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek.

    Work is performed in schools, clinics, homes or other community settings where incumbents may encounter illness, disease or stressful situations.


    SELECTION PROCESS

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:


    EDUCATION:
    Have an Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college


    AND

    EXPERIENCE:
    Have two years of experience in a clinical setting, pediatric experience preferred

    AND ABILITIES


    • Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques.
    • Knowledge of nursing theory and process.
    • Knowledge of professional nursing standards.
    • Ability to deal effectively with others.
    • Ability to assess the physical and emotional needs of individuals and families.
    • Ability to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to maintain records and write reports.

    EXAMINATION PROCESS
