- Accurately assesses requests for medication doses by checking patient profiles on the Pharmacy computer system.
- Processes appropriate requests for medication doses by profiling requests and generating appropriate labels for filling orders.
- Posts debits/credits accurately.
- Accurately fills and delivers medication requests in a timely manner after receiving verification and approval from a Pharmacist.
- Accurately polls, fills and restocks automated dispensing cabinets from fill lists.
- Accurately polls, dispenses and re-orders narcotic stock from Narc Station inventory.
- Generates required reports: Pick IV and production reports.
- Performs back-up procedure correctly.
- Posts charges daily.
- Accurately performs calculations. (Measured by examination)
- Accurately completes IV rounds.
- Maintains aseptic technique in product preparation. Labels appropriately.
- Checks for particulate matter in final product.
- Changes prep and expiration date on recycled product.
- Labels containers accurately including auxiliary labels.
- Prepares chemotherapy accurately including product selection, measurement and labeling.
- Fills orders with correct medication.
- Can safely use departmental equipment such as the TPN compounder, pre-packing machines, AcuDose, Narc Station, etc.
- EDUCATION:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Certification Program or at least one year of training as a Pharmacy Technician or a Foreign Pharmacy candidate.
- Experience with IV mixtures and unit dose drug distribution. Experience in healthcare highly preferred

The licensed Pharmacy Technician will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to fill prescriptions, deliver orders and performs other pharmacy duties as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Adheres to all Hospital/Departmental Policies. Must be able to explain policy and procedures accurately. Uses pharmacy automation to fill, compound and deliver all medications.
2. Accurately fills, checks and re-checks all orders (stats, first dose, unit dose, IVs, floor stock, etc.) to prevent errors. Accurately labels all medications prior to pharmacist checking order. Does NOT dispense any medication without a pharmacist's approval.
3. Fills and delivers in a timely manner all automated dispensing cabinets, cart fill reports, crash carts, anesthesia drug kits, floor stock, and departmental requests daily as needed
4. Drug inventory control: coordinates buying efforts and logs items that need to be ordered with the buyer to ensure adequate supplies and stock of medications are maintained
5. Answers telephone (by 3rd ring), computer messages, and window requests in a timely manner.
6. Prepackages medications as needed and tags kitcheck inventory as needed.
7. Follows and adheres to all USP and 800 regulations when preparing medications. Maintains aseptic technique and appropriate garbing procedures. Prepares one product at a time. Dates, times and initials if vial can be reused (e.g., multi dose vial). Dates, times, and initials all products compounded with the correct expiration date.
8. Employee maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance and work area
9. Restocks shelves and rotates stock in Pharmacy and in patient care units.
10. Demonstrates knowledge of Safety and Infection Control (i.e. uses aseptic technique while preparing LVP, IVPB, TPN, PCA, Epidural, Chemos, etc) Policies and Procedures. Reports any unsafe/unsanitary practices and conditions to the pharmacy manager
11. Ensures all charges/credits are completed and accurate.
12. Attends and participates in staff meetings
13. Demonstrates ability to prioritize workload, strives to make good use of time; works to complete all tasks within usual time frames, recognizes when additional effort is needed and takes action without being asked, reports free time to supervisor, and assists others as requested.
14. Consistently prepares narcotics and maintains minimal discrepancies
15. Ensures expired/defective medications are not dispensed, completes cycle counts and unit inspections on a monthly basis. Performs audits as necessary.

17. Successfully passes annual math competency and is able to demonstrate excellence in calculations
18. Properly disposes of non-recyclable solutions
19. Maintains all temperature, pressure, humidity and cleaning logs

21. Assists in training new staff. 22. Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
