- Directs warehousing activities for organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee warehouse operations in a Lean manufacturing environment, using Lean principles for process improvement and problem solving.
- Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
- Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
- Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
- Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
- Participates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.
- Maintains stocking locations on all inventory.
- Ensures that items are organized and properly identified.
- Standardizes to the best of ability how material is brought in and stored.
- Evaluates stock area for ways to improve accuracy of inventory.
- Provides input on employee evaluations in Warehouse area.
- Submits ideas for improving stock department, as well as cutting down on inventory and storage.
- Oversees all aspects of the stock area delegating activities to pickers.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include training employees:
- Planning, assigning, and directing work
- Appraising performance
- Rewarding and disciplining employees.
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word software.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
