- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN),
- Valid Public Health Nurse (PHN) certificate issued by the CA BRN,
- Valid Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
- AND-Experience: Applicants must possess eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent experience as a certified PHN, -and-In addition to the certified PHN experience described above, applicantsmust meet one of the following options:

The Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for a Supervising Public Health Nurse (SPHN) who will supervise nursing and other personnel in special County-wide programs.
The incumbent in this position will be responsible for ensuring excellent nursing and evidence-based practice, while optimizing resources for achieving individual and community health outcomes.
The list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies within DPH as they occur.
Family Health Services (FHS) section of DPH specializes in many dynamic public health nursing programs and includes Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care, Rx 4 Kids, Children Screening, Assessment, Referral and Treatment, Black Infant Health, and Maternal Child and Adolescent Health.
California Children's Services
The California Children's Services (CCS) section of DPH is a statewide program that arranges, directs, and pays for medical care, equipment, and rehabilitation, when these services are authorized for children and young adults under 21 years of age, who have CCS-eligible medical conditions and whose families are unable to pay for all or part of their care.

As an alternative to the traditional benefits package, you may also be eligible to elect the Modified Benefit Option (MBO) that provides an increased base rate of pay ($2.00 per hour above the base rate of pay) with modified benefits.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Travel/Driver License:
Travel throughout the County is required. Employees will be required to make provision for transportation.
At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation.
Pre-Employment Process:
Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening

Public Health Nurse Certification:
RNs mustpossess a bachelor's degree (or higher) in Nursing to apply for California Public Health Nurse certification.
Applicants who do notpossess a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Nursing at the time of application submission will be disqualified.
