Residential Life is a Student Affairs department located within On-Campus Housing.

Residential Life works closely with Housing and Hospitality Services (HHS) to provide students with comfortable and convenient affordable housing and to enhance student opportunities for academic success, community building, personal growth, and leadership development.

Residential Life works closely with Housing and Hospitality Services (HHS) to provide students with comfortable and convenient affordable housing and to enhance student opportunities for academic success, community building, personal growth, and leadership development.


Within Residential Life, the Academics & First Year Experience team focuses on enriching the residential academic experience and oversees the transition of all students into the University.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Academics & First Year Experience, the First Year Experience Coordinator will oversee the development, oversight, and assessment of first-year transition programs, events, and resources to provide enriching opportunities and activities for all UCLA students to find their community at the university.

This includes oversight of large-scale initiatives including but not limited to True Bruin Welcome, The Common Experience Program, and some Bruin Day activations.

The First Year Experience Coordinator will supervise and develop onboarding and ongoing training for a team of 3 student interns helping to develop programming to support Common Experience initiatives and students' academic success, wellness, and integration into the university.

In this position, the First Year Experience Coordinator will foster and maintain integral campus partnerships with departments and Faculty to build networks of support and collaboration within and between Residential Life, First Year Experience, and many Student Affairs entities.

The First Year Experience Coordinator will assess and make recommendations for first-year freshmen and transfer trends as it relates to transition, needs, academics, social and emotional support, and more.

They will send communication to first years and will work collaboratively with colleagues and student interns to identify resources, events, and initiatives to meet student

Salary & Compensation:

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings, prepare, and deliver professional presentations; explain complex ideas to diverse audiences, build consensus, and influence decision making. (required)
  • Demonstrated skill in interacting with individuals from various social, cultural, economic, educational backgrounds, and professional rank in a highvolume, continuous contact setting to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships (required)
