Position Summary:


Reporting to the Deputy Director and Director of Student Affairs Initiatives, the Associate Director provides leadership for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the programming and activities for student leadership development efforts, oversees and manages the College Corps program, supports administrative and resource management for staff development, and assists with the emergency response for on campus housing and student events.

The Associate Director also assumes direct responsibility for supervision of student staff, professional staff and graduate student interns. The Associate Director establishes and prioritizes short
- and long-range goals for program development, implementation, growth, and assessment; supervises professional and student staff; manages and enhances resources including operating budgets, space, and personnel; writes and analyzes assessment and data; and creates reports, grant proposals, presentations and develops fundraising efforts. The incumbent contributes in a leadership role to the formulation and execution of the overall vision, strategic plan, policies, and resource management of the student leadership development efforts and staff development. Under the general direction of the Director of Residential Life, the Associate Director is required to live in campus housing with on-call duty responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ Years Experience in higher education or a related field. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in developing, implementing and assessing policy, curricula, programs and strategies to facilitate student success, development and wellness outcomes. (required)
  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills, including working knowledge of employee selection, training, motivation, discipline, evaluation, and position development. (required)
  • Skill in organizing information, people, finances, and other resources to develop or maximize effective procedures and operational systems. (required)
  • Demonstrated skills to design, implement and evaluate programs to address the unique needs and concerns of firstgeneration college students. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to research, write reports, and make presentations on issues related to constituencies served. (required)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the educational, research and public service environments at a major university. (required)
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings, prepare and deliver professional presentations, and convey complex ideas to diverse audiences. (required)
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a diverse group of students, faculty, and administrators, both individually and in group settings. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to independently organize, manage multiple projects, set priorities, and allocate resources in dynamic environments. Proficient in handling diverse tasks with changing priorities and deadlines effectively. (required)
  • Knowledge of fundraising (e.g., grant writing and development) principles and experience in grant proposal submission and reporting and donor relations. (required)
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technology to support, enhance, and create programs and ensure that knowledge of the department stays current. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (required)
  • Advanced degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related field (preferred)
