Established in 2023, New Carrot Company, operating under the name Bolthouse Fresh Foods, is headquartered in the California Central Valley community of Bakersfield.

Specializing in carrot production, the company caters to both retail and food service operations and is renowned for its Bolthouse Farms brand, widely distributed in major retailers across the United States and Canada.


Bolthouse Fresh Foods is a subsidiary of Butterfly Equity, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm with a specialty in the food sector.

Butterfly Equity's expertise spans the entire food value chain, from 'seed to fork,' with a focus on agriculture & aquaculture, food & beverage products, food distribution, and foodservice.

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE

JOB DUTIES:


  • Implement programs to reduce workplace injuries and collisions and ensure continued compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
  • Implement, evaluate and/or certify effectiveness of company safety programs and systems through inspections and audits.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, capture, deploy and share best practices.
  • Participate in Worker's Compensation Claims reviews as needed.
  • Gather and analyze safety data, develop goals and targets, manage scorecards, databases, and dashboards for safety related programs and metrics.
  • Prepare for emergency situations, including assistance of injured workers, by establishing emergency response protocols.
  • Develop and deploy safety awareness and compliance training programs to all levels of employees as needed.
  • Develop and maintain incident reporting and investigation procedures, emergency response plans, and crisis management protocols.
  • Ensure the development of training programs and related training records and reports.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications:


  • 57 years of experience in a related field
  • Bachelor's degree with preferred disciplines in occupational safety and health, environmental safety & management, and safety environmental science.
  • Proven experience in safety leadership within manufacturing environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate employees at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge of safety best practices and state and federal laws.
  • Ability to work any and all shifts and provide 'oncall' coverage outside work hours and some weekends and holidays.
  • Valid California Driver License

Required Skills And Abilities:


  • Investigative, analysis and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to nontechnical audiences.
  • Knowledge of local, state or federal environmental, health and safety regulations including how to access and evaluate resources, i.e., regulatory agencies, consulting firms, webbased information, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Strong organizational, interviewing and listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer serviceoriented skills
  • Ability to make complete an accurate analysis, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences, and implement recommendations in support of targeted outcomes.
  • Designed, implemented and or managed OSH programs
  • Facilitated regulatory visits, managed emergency response incidents, implemented corrective actions,
  • Conducted or lead training in applicable OSH areas

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications
  • Agriculture Experience
  • Bilingual Spanish and English are preferred.
