- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- 4+ years of experience in engineering/designing electrical systems within the Utilities or Energy industry
- Proficient with ETAP, WinIGS, IEEE 88/998
- Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Bentley MicroStation and/or Bentley Substation software is a plus for creating 2D drawings or 3D models
- PE Certification
- Knowledge of SCADA, automation, relay settings, RTU configuration, and Protection & Controls engineering concepts is advantageous
- Experience in the electric utility industry or petro-chemical industry
- BSEE Degree with 6+ years of experience
- Identify suitable protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations
- Select appropriate protection devices for substation equipment
- Prepare scopes of work and estimates for substation evaluations and designs
- Determine equipment sizing and procure materials
- Ensure maintenance and compliance with customer standards regarding relay protection
- Create drawing packages for substation relay protection, including wiring diagrams, schematics, protection panels, and more
- Engage with clients and vendors
- Conduct load calculations for various substation components
- Provide field support and inspections for substation projects
- Mentor new engineers

Division Overview:
The Substation Engineering Division at Ampirical boasts recognized national expertise in creating and planning new substations, high voltage electrical substations, and switchyards. Job Summary:
The Relay Protection and Controls Engineer plays a crucial role in designing and procuring protective relaying equipment for substations, switchyards, and transmission lines. Responsible for ensuring compliance with design/construction scope processes, this position collaborates closely with clients to deliver high-quality designs that meet their standards. Additionally, providing on-site support during construction activities.
