- Researches and analyzes data, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
- Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical, thermal, and hydraulic systems
- Plans and directs engineering personnel in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and company specifications
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment
- Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software
- Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
- Provides Engineering services including advice, information, and drawings to various supervisors in maintenance and repair departments as well as on board personnel
- Frequent equipment and jobsite visits and inspections
- A minimum of 3 years of experience preferred, ideally in Marine Services or Construction industry
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's degree preferred
- Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common specific and technical journals
- Proficient skills in standard office software packages
- Ability to work a 50-hour work week, additional hours as needed
- Willingness and ability to travel required
- This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language
- Valid Driver's license
- PE license preferred
- Regular, reliable attendance
- Work productively and meet deadlines timely
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
- Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
