- Work with our account, design, and copy teams to create compelling designs, brand expressions, ad campaigns, and other day-to-day marketing deliverables
- Assist the agency with our own internal marketing and social media
- Shadow team members across design and other key functional areas
- Provide support in various other "interny" duties as needed – background research, agency Lunch-and-Learns, and maybe a theme party or two
- Incoming college junior, senior, or recent graduate with a major in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Art, or other relevant major
- Portfolio demonstrating design and composition skills, as well as technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (the latest in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills, demonstrating high attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and time management: Able to focus, take initiative, manage time efficiently, and consistently set proper expectations to hit deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build effective working relationships, basic human kindness, and a sense of humor don't hurt
- Ability to learn quickly and produce high-quality work in short periods of time
- Deep understanding of fundamental design principles for both web and print – including typography, composition, color, use of space, and hierarchy of information
- Ability to articulate concepts, designs, and layouts – communicating your creative vision to the entire team
- Advanced understanding of digital optimization for web assets
- Passion for data, technology, and creativity
- Strong interest in marketing, business, and advertising
- Self-motivated, self-starter attitude
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to quickly implement feedback from multiple sources
- Knowledge of Figma and AfterEffects is a plus

What We're Looking For
Do you live – and design – for the unexpected? Are you a DIY self-starter and problem-solver with a knack for visual expression? Do you love clever creative, surprising ads, bold branding? Want to start making some of it yourself?
If you're ready to dive headfirst into the marketing and agency world, WHM is on the hunt for our next great Design Intern – as part of a 10-week internship program, Summer 2024, in beautiful downtown Oakland. In this paid, full-time hybrid position – Tu/W/Th in-office, M/F remote – you'll be working closely with our in-house design team to deliver a variety of strategically strong, visually smart solutions to clients all across B2B tech: Think data analytics, cybersecurity, and everyone's new best friend, artificial intelligence.
It's a fast-paced role – you'll need to ramp up quick, think on your feet, and juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and budgets. If you're a proactive, creative thinker, with an eye for detail and a mind for the technical, come join our talented, caring, only marginally nerdy team.

COMPENSATION: $22/hour full time, temporary employee, non-exempt
LOCATION: Oakland, CA (steps from 19th St. BART)
