The opportunity

The

Information Security Analyst I Summer Intern , reporting to the Information Security Operations Manager, will monitor and protect university computing networks, assets, and applications.

You will collect and analyze data in complex, virtualized, multi-site computing environments. This internship will be remote. #LI-Remote

Please note this is a Summer Internship position.

What you'll do:
You will analyze security incidents using industry-leading SIEM platforms.
You will assess, evaluate, and respond to security detections escalated from different sources.
You will perform initial investigation and escalation of security threats or incidents.
You will collaborate with analysts, engineers, and other partners to create and develop SOC procedures.
You will help develop SIEM use cases and alert runbooks.

You will perform real-time cyber defense incident handling (e.g., forensic collections, intrusion correlation and tracking, threat analysis, and direct system remediation) tasks to support Incident Response Teams (IRTs)You will maintain applicable reports of cyber threat intelligence analysis.

You will help operate information security management and protection technologies.
You will monitor computing networks, assets, and applications for abnormal activities and indicators of compromise.
You will develop incident detection and response capabilities.

You will assist with risk management, security assessment, auditing, and security authorization projects, as directed by the university's Information Security Management team.

What we're looking for:
Summer Internship (May through August 2024)

Academic Degree(s) and/ areas of study:
Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or computer science, with a focus on cybersecurity.
Professional Certification(s): Security+, GSEC, or relevant certification.
Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
Strong critical thinking skills.
