At the Chair of Production Engineering of E-Mobility Components (PEM) at RWTH Aachen University, we research and develop product and production innovations that enable the cost-effective and sustainable production of electrified powertrains and their individual components.

Together with our partners from industry and research, we work on solutions for the mobility of the future - from the initial idea to industrial application.


Research Group "Battery Components & Recycling" (BCR)

The research group "Battery Components & Recycling" at the PEM chair takes a comprehensive approach to the various components of lithium-ion batteries.

All battery components are examined throughout their entire life cycle - from raw materials to recycling - and improved with regard to key performance indicators such as cost, performance, and sustainability.

The group also focuses on future materials and technologies in the post-lithium-ion field.

The second focus of the group is on the processes that follow the first life cycle of a battery, summarized under the term "Re-X".

This includes the use of batteries in "Re-Use", for example as stationary energy storage, automated dismantling, as well as "Repair", "Remanufacturing", and recycling.

From implementing strategic consulting projects to investigating specific technical issues
