Position InformationUnder the leadership of the Assistant Dean for Development and in close collaboration with the Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) the Director of Development (DoD) will develop and execute long- and short-term strategies to grow the college's philanthropic pipeline and secure annual, major, and in-kind donations from organizations that will benefit endowments, research programs, and student success. The DoD will identify and manage approximately 150 individual donors and will travel locally and statewide frequently for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship purposes. The DoD will arrange appropriate opportunities for key faculty and academic leadership to meet with prospective donors and will work collaboratively with other University Advancement colleagues to achieve fundraising goals.
Please note: this is a three-year, renewable contract position which includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees.
The full salary range for the Director of Development, College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences is $96,700 - $184,100 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Proven success at fundraising by developing and implementing strategic plans that incorporate a concise definition of goals, targeted audiences, and strategies in-line with institutional goals, and closing gifts ($25,000+) from individuals, corporations, and foundations, both local and national. Ability to work effectively with advancement staff in devising, analyzing, modifying, implementing, and evaluating development programs. Ability to work effectively with student organizations, parent programs, and faculty. Very strong skills in maintaining
confidentiality. Advanced knowledge of applicable laws,
rules, regulations, policies, etc. Ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and university leaders and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals. Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation with the proven ability to persuade colleagues and prospects. Understanding of standard office productivity software including Microsoft suite of programs. Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills,
including political acumen, to establish and maintain good working
relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies. Ability to make persuasive and compelling presentations of goals and objectives
for a location in order to secure gifts. Demonstrated success at meeting predetermined goals and objectives through effective program/project planning, organization, execution, and evaluation. Advanced knowledge of all aspects of
fundraising, donor relations, and public
relations concepts, principles,
procedures, and techniques. Good organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
