    Organizational Summary

    Maternity Care Coalition (MCC) is a community-based nonprofit organization serving Pennsylvania and Delaware with over four decades of commitment to improving maternal and child health and early care and education. MCC's mission is to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women and parenting families and enhance school readiness for children 0—3. We achieve this through direct service, advocacy, and research, in collaboration with individuals, families, providers, and communities. We envision a future where parents impacted by racial and social inequities can birth with dignity, parent with autonomy, and raise babies who are healthy, growing, and thriving.

    Position Summary

    Responsible for planning and providing culturally connected high quality parenting education program services to meet program objectives set forth by funders and MCC.

    Benefits include:

    • Sign-on Bonus Conditional upon satisfactory performance and completion of four (4) months of employment (introductory period + 1 month) and in good standing (incur no significant, documented corrective action and meets or exceeds introductory period performance standards) a one-time payment of $1,250 (gross pay prior to any required withholdings) to be made in the payroll covering said date
    • And Upon completion of twelve (12) months (hire date + 12 months) and in good standing (incur no significant, documented corrective action and meets or exceeds annual position performance standards), a one-time payment of $1, gross pay prior to any required withholdings) to be made in the payroll covering said date
    Essential Tasks
    • Plan and provide virtual/in-person parenting education classes in Spanish and English for pregnant people, parents and caregivers residing in the Greater Philadelphia area.
    • Integrate parent/child activities into groups when applicable.
    • Conduct pre/post surveys to measure program impact when applicable.
    • Utilize evidence-based/informed parenting curriculum.
    • Complete client paperwork as required by funders and MCC administration.
    • Input data into MCC's ETO database and other relevant databases per contract stipulations.
    • Provide support to families in crisis with de-escalation, anger management, and positive discipline techniques and parenting skills that protect children from abuse and neglect; Report suspected child abuse and neglect.
    • Distribute certificates and other incentives to participants who complete their group participation.
    • Refers participants needing more support to other MCC services and outside agencies as appropriate.
    • Confirm caregiver participation with letters for court when requested.
    • Ensure confidentiality of client records, sharing pertinent information only with the client's approval.

    Other Tasks

    • Meets monthly with parenting program team
    • Ensure compliance with funder requirements and protocols
    • Provide input for reports to funders and MCC administration as requested
    • Meet regularly with supervisor and program monitor to review program objectives and outcomes
    • Attend curriculum training and required DHS and MCC trainings
    • Participate in outreach efforts to recruit participants
    • Represent MCC and the Parenting Collaborative program in the community
    • Adhere to the MCC's security guidelines and ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information
    • Attend relevant staff and external meetings to promote communication and execution of goals
    • Complete special projects specific to the function of the service area as directed by the supervisor
    • Other duties as assigned within the scope of position expectations

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Demonstrated group facilitation skills
    • Ability to easily engage with people and feel confident to speak in public
    • Knowledge and interest in parent education and skill development
    • Willingness and ability to offer in-person parenting education classes when requested by funders
    • Available to work non-traditional hours, including evenings
    • Willingness to facilitate parenting groups in jails as needed
    • Understanding of MCC's mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
    • Knowledge of the concepts and practices associated with community health issues, particularly with pregnant women, prenatal care, child development, parenting and other services for mothers, young children, and their families
    • Ability to travel in and around the Greater Philadelphia region to provide services as needed
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the issues facing the community served; knowledge of community resources
    • Good record keeping and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, community partners, clients, and members of the community.
    • Excellent computer skills (including virtual meeting platforms, data entry and management, word processing, use of Internet)
    • Ability to work well with individuals and as a team member
    • Knowledge of and ability to link clients to community resources

    Experience, Education, and Licensure

    • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Social Work, Public Health, Early Childhood Education, or related fields;
    • Bilingual (verbal/written proficiency required in Spanish/English)
    • 2+ years of experience providing community-based services and knowledge about community health, parenting, and maternal and child health issues
    • 1+ years of continued experience in group facilitation
    • Valid driver's license
