    POSITION: NATIONAL POLICY & ADVOCACY INTERN

    LOCATION: REMOTE

    REPORTS TO: NATIONAL MANAGER, POLICY & ADVOCACY

    SCHEDULE:

    • Summer, part-time: 10-12 hours per week for 10 weeks before 8/31/24 (max of 120 hours)
    • Summer, full-time: 40 hours per week for 10 weeks before 8/31/24 (max of 400 hours)

    LIFT is a national nonprofit focused on empowering families to break the cycle of poverty. We believe that structural inequities perpetuate wealth disparities, resulting in a cycle of poverty that spans generations. At LIFT, we work with parents of young children to enhance their well-being, financial stability, and social connections - encapsulated as Hope, Money, and Love. Our personalized coaching program helps parents achieve economic mobility by reaching goals like furthering education, improving credit, or securing a living wage. Additionally, parents receive financial support to invest in their families and aspirations.

    Currently, LIFT operates sites in Chicago, Los Angeles, DC, and New York and is functioning as a hybrid work environment. However, this position is remote.

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    LIFT's Policy & Advocacy department focuses on dismantling systemic barriers by amplifying member voices and equipping them with the tools to drive policy change. We are seeking interns interested in contributing to this crucial work. The National Policy and Advocacy Intern will support various projects and operational tasks to enhance the team's effectiveness.

    AS A POLICY & ADVOCACY INTERN, YOU WILL:

    • Conduct thorough analyses of policies, systems, and programs affecting members
    • Research and create policy resources for members and staff
    • Produce reports and thought pieces to highlight member perspectives and program insights
    • Assist in organizing Policy & Advocacy initiatives and communications
    • Aid member programs by researching policy topics and designing training materials
    • Manage data input, summarize reports, create presentations, and provide policy updates
    • Collaborate on developing advocacy materials and resources
    • Share programmatic data insights internally and externally
    • Support additional projects as needed
