Duties:


If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for supporting a full range of Child Care Program duties within the Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children and Families/Office of Child Care.


Typical work assignment include:

  • Leading and/or participating onsite reviews for the purpose of assessing grantee performance and compliance with Federal regulations.
  • Providing advice and assistance to grantee in program planning.
  • Serving as liaison between grantees and the Office of Child Care; promoting new and crosscutting initiatives, and providing technical assistance to grantees at the state, regional and national level, as appropriate.
  • Collecting and analyzing data, providing information and advice, and preparing, updates, monitoring, and reporting on designated program operations and grantee activities, issues and accomplishments.
  • Coordinating, carrying out and monitoring special projects and initiatives focused on grantees in the Office of Child Care.
  • Preparing reports addressing the specific areas analyzed and identifying significant internal control weaknesses and other issues discovered in the analysis with corrective action recommendations.

Qualifications:


Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below.

Basic Requirement:
You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C):

  • A. Possess a degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts)
  • B. Possess a combination of education and experience that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript)
  • C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

Specialized Experience:

GS-12: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (3) of the (4) duties listed below:

  • 1) Managing child care programs at the State, Territorial or Tribal level;
  • 2) Planning or evaluating the progress of designated child care and/or other early childhood program operations;
  • 3) Analyzing data and advising on child care program issues;
  • 4) Providing technical assistance to grantees at the local, state, regional and/or national level.
