    Position Summary & Responsibilities:

    Position Summary:

    This position is in Pittsburg, KS within the District Four with the Kansas Department of Transportation. Provides engineering guidance and administration for the construction of highway and related construction projects. This involves interpreting specifications, plans and special provisions and the supervision of other engineers and engineering technicians. Provides effective leadership to work unit thru priority outcomes, performance reviews, coaching and counseling, discipline and providing development opportunities for employees under positions supervision. This position will also have to deal with the multitude of issues that have developed and continue to develop during this current pandemic. Due to seasonal work, incumbent will be required to work additional hours including nights and weekends. Additional hours will be assigned by the supervisor depending upon the needs of the agency.

    Qualifications:

    Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and an Engineer in Training or Fundamentals of Engineering

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of engineering experience.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the administration of highway construction projects.
  • Experience in supervising engineers/engineering technicians
