    The Holland Museum: Preserving and Promoting Community Heritage

    The Holland Museum, located in beautiful West Michigan along the Lake Michigan shore, is a vibrant organization deeply connected with the Holland community.

    Through engaging exhibits and programs, the museum brings to life the rich stories of Holland, inspiring people to embrace and share their cultural heritage.

    The Holland Museum, formerly known as the Netherlands Museum, has a rich history dating back to 1937. Housed in a historic federal post office building since 1992, the museum comprises multiple facilities including the Cappon House, the Settlers House, and the Holland Armory building.

    Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum has an annual budget of around $850,000, a dedicated staff of 11, and welcomes approximately 8,500 visitors annually.

    Executive Director Responsibilities:

    • Lead in preserving and promoting the area's heritage

    • Oversee all aspects of the institution
    • Ensure financial stability and growth
    • Develop fundraising strategies
    • Curate exhibitions and programs

    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of nonprofit leadership experience in a museum setting. A degree in a relevant field is required, with advanced degrees preferred. Strong leadership, strategic planning, fundraising, and communication skills are essential.

    Experience with budgeting, operations management, and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary. Flexibility in work schedule and a commitment to the museum's mission are vital.

    Salary:

    $85,000-$110,000 + benefits
