    Description

    3-6 Month Contract to Hire Position

    Location - Remote with 25% travel

    3 week on-call rotation

    Experienced SQL Server DBA with advanced skills in Performance Tuning, AlwaysOn, Configuration, and Azure SQL administration.

    Our client is looking to add a Senior SQL Server DBA that will perform advanced performance tuning and optimization of SQL Server databases to ensure optimal query performance and resource utilization.

    Key Responsibilities:


    •Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly available and scalable SQL Server environments using AlwaysOn Availability Groups, database replication, and other high-availability features.


    •Collaborate with infrastructure teams to design and implement SQL Server configurations that align with organizational standards and best practices.


    •Provide expert-level support for SQL Server database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, security, and troubleshooting.


    •Implement monitoring, indexing, and query optimization techniques tailored to each environment. Adjust strategies based on the specific characteristics and capabilities of on-premise and cloud services.


    •Design and manage disaster recovery plans encompassing on-premise and cloud databases. Ensure high availability and minimal data loss in the event of failure.


    •Mentor and provide guidance to junior member(s) of the DBA team, sharing best practices and technical expertise.


    •Stay well-informed of emerging technologies and industry trends in SQL Server database administration, Azure services, and cloud computing.


    •Configure and maintain Azure SQL Database instances, including provisioning, monitoring, and optimizing performance in the cloud environment.

    Desired Skills and Experience:


    •Experience working in managed service environments.


    •Familiarity with Oracle Database administration.


    •Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.


    •12+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator in a senior or lead role.


    •Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of SQL Server databases, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and resource management.


    •Hands-on experience with AlwaysOn Availability Groups, database replication, and other high-availability technologies.


    •Experience with Azure SQL Database administration, including provisioning, monitoring, and performance tuning.


    •Strong understanding of SQL Server configuration best practices and ability to implement and maintain complex database configurations.


    •Familiarity with Oracle database administration is considered useful.


    •Experience with TSM backup solutions is a plus.


    •Familiarity with Manage Engine Monitoring tools is a plus.


    •Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.


    •Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
