    Description

    Basware Corporate Functions supports Basware business by providing and continuously developing high quality tools, processes and expertise to enable successful execution of company strategy, effective operations, and happy internal and external customers.

    Corporate Functions has skilled and development-oriented people working across the world in all of Basware's 14 countries, with truly global ways of working, and consists of Digital Office, Finance, Human Resources, Administration, Legal and Sourcing teams. Together with other Basware units, Corporate Functions ensures that our customers can successfully meet their business objectives through cooperating with Basware and using our product and service portfolio. We are now looking for a Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel to join our legal team. As Basware's footprint grows in the North American market, we are looking for an individual based in the USA. You will work as part of the legal team based in Espoo, Finland and Aalst, Belgium and help make it all just happen for our customers. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to be part of an in-house legal team in a growing and forward-looking technology company. You will get to work on a variety of tasks and develop both your legal skills as well as business understanding. As a Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel, your responsibilities include:
    • Supporting the company and its General Counsel as part of Basware's legal team in all areas of legal support, including commercial, corporate, HR legal affairs and legal compliance
    • Being responsible for dedicated legal support to agreed Basware businesses and countries, depending on the applicant's interest and experience
    • Negotiating contracts with customers, vendors and partners
    • Conducting legal analysis on issues relevant to Basware's business activities
    • Participating in continuous development of Basware's legal team's services; preparing and documenting legal policies, guidelines and best practices
    • Cooperating with external counsels when needed
    • Providing training on legal matters for relevant parts of Basware organization
    • Performing other duties as assigned, e.g. related to corporate administration and governance
    To be successful in this role, you should have:
    • A degree in Law
    • 6+ years of postgraduate experience as an in-house lawyer or in a law firm with international clients
    • Enthusiasm and capability to learn new things quickly
    • Experience and/or a keen interest in the Software as a Service business
    • Knowledge of company and business laws and principles related to international contracts, intellectual property rights and privacy
    • Passion for learning, development and process improvement
    • Ability to work autonomously, but also being able to judge when it is necessary or beneficial to request for guidance
    • Attention to detail, plus the ability to produce high quality work in a timely manner
