    Job Description

    Job Description

    Who we are:

Fuse delivers innovative communications, networking, and computing solutions for U.S. defense agencies and our nation's warfighters. Our game-changing products and solutions ensure secure, reliable information and communications at the tactical edge.

    About this role:

Do you thrive in innovative, design-driven environments with a high level of both accountability and trust? Are you passionate about delivering elegant software and hardware solutions with the right amount of engineering rigor? Are you seeking a technical role where you can take initiative? If so - we want to hear from you

Fuse is looking for a Systems Engineer ready to jump in with our existing R&D team and help drive forward innovative approaches that expand and enhance existing systems and prototypes with a focus on software aspects and integration with hardware. Apply your dynamic and detail-oriented mindset to our development cycle that combines software, network, and hardware components. This role will support the agile development of innovative communications, networking, and computing solutions for U.S. defense agencies that improve the sharing of information among warfighters distributed throughout airborne, maritime, and ground environments. This can be a mid to senior level role with our team, with great potential for growth.

Warfighter-focused design and development is at the heart of Fuse processes. Throughout Fuse development our experienced team applies the best practices of commercial design-think, coupled to the DoD systems engineering framework. The coupling of commercially proven design with rigorous systems engineering gives Fuse an ability to rapidly design, develop and field solutions well inside of typical military design cycles. With an Agile approach to development (for both software and hardware) Fuse rapidly innovates, putting creative concepts into action, and refining those concepts through hands on test, user evaluation, and iteration.

    What you'll do:

    • Lead design and development of dynamic tactical communication systems
    • Support integration between hardware, software, and network systems
    • Derive and manage system and subsystem requirements and specifications from customer/program requirements
    • Conduct research and analysis of technical documentation in order to define and document system architecture and connections
    • Leverage industry experts to find solutions to complex problems
    • Create, review, and update technical documentation such as system diagrams, interface control documents, design description documents
    • Conduct and support test planning and execution, including flight test and demonstration
    • Analyze test data, develop test reports, technology briefs and presentations
    • Participate in demonstration planning with customers and overarching experiment managers
    • Some travel will be required for hardware installation and/or test support

    Requirements

    We are looking for:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Systems, Scientific or related Technical Field from an accredited college with 4-6 years professional experience or eight years equivalent experience
    • Experience with engineering design and development, as well as testing and deployment of complex systems
    • Ability to perform analyses and trade studies to aid in the selection of system components
    • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal guidance and oversight
    • Strong technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to trace technical issues within multiple systems
    • Experience creating detailed system level interconnect block diagrams utilizing supplier data sheets
    • Experience creating/designing cabling and wire harnesses for prototyping and production level activities
    • Must be comfortable working on an active flightline
    • Experience with U.S. DoD programs or systems
    • Your own unique talents If you meet some requirements of this position but not 100% of the qualifications outlined above, tell us why you'd be a great fit for this role based on your specific characteristics that align with our values and goals
    • Active U.S. Secret Clearance

    Nice to have:

    • Experience working with networking, software, or mechanical engineering teams
    • Experience in agile, professional software development environments utilizing revision control, test driven development and continuous integration
    • Understanding of RF principles and link budget simulation, data analysis and data collection
    • Knowledge of Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) or other relevant systems
    • Experience with network technology and protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, TCP/IP, DHCP)
    • Experience with controlled cryptographic items/devices
    • Experience with military and/or commercial SATCOM system integration and design
    • Experience with multiple tactical data links and mesh waveforms (L-16, TTNT, ANW2, Silvus, etc.)
