Job Description Summary

The Field Service Engineer under general guidance and minimal supervision will provide customers hands-on technical support and lead field service activities. Performs a wide range of engineering tasks and ensures proper installation, service and commissioning of products and services. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning of projects and provides maintenance, breakdown emergency support and remote troubleshooting for the GE Renewable Energy – Renewable Hybrids business for installed photovoltaic inverters and battery energy storage systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide on-site / remote technical direction for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair / replacement / return, operation / performance, maintenance, and warranty remediation of electrical & mechanical equipment, including solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, and medium-voltage / ancillary equipment, to ensure 97% or better up time and to meet contractual obligations or service agreement guarantees.
Work scope includes power generation / conversion, electrical, instrumentation, auxiliary, battery, and control systems, including equipment calibration, safety and settings, software installation and settings, system start up and tests, and Preventive Maintenance (PM).
Provide front-line technical and emergency response to Customers, leadership and technical direction to skilled labor / contractors performing work at customer sites and assure that the work is completed in a safe manner, of the highest quality standards, and in full compliance with GE procedures, manuals, work instructions, and GE safety standards.
Perform troubleshooting activities at site locations to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions.
Drive customer satisfaction trough effective communication, contract compliance, and meeting expectations with respect to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) for services.
Meet GE business expectations by leading business operational processes involving SQDC, root-cause analysis, and administrative tasks (e.g., service reports, job safety analysis, training course completions, quality compliance, GE policy compliance, expense reporting, and logging/issue tracking), for service business obligations.
Provide continuous support in response to customer calls for service
Communicate goals, deliverables, strategies, risks, and opportunities, develop processes, documentation, procedures, manuals, and reports, as required internally within GE.
Protect GE's reputation and technology in the marketplace.
Promote a working environment that encourages employee involvement to achieve excellence in all services management metrics.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university, and equivalent work years of experience)
Minimum 3 years of field service and/or commissioning experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in power generation / conversion, power electronics and controls field services, solar power systems and battery energy storage systems technical support / field services / operations / maintenance services, or power plant / medium-voltage equipment installation / commissioning.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time

Desired Characteristics:

Solar Energy System, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and/or Hybrids product knowledge and business process experience
Requires a thorough knowledge of inverter products and energy storage systems
Must have knowledge of power electronics and controls
Must have knowledge of Networking, Modbus serial and Ethernet communications
Proficient in English language, both verbal and written
Willingness to travel and work with Customers
Position will be based in USA primarily within the Southwest US, with domestic and international travel
Experience with PLC, MarkVI, MarkVIe, controls systems, HMI / GE Cimplicity, SCADA preferable
Ability to understand and implement controls software
Demonstrated accomplishments in customer-focused problem solving
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, and flexible
Intellectual curiosity and technical aptitude necessary to rapidly learn new technologies and customer applications
Prior Lean continuous improvement experience

The salary range for this position is $71, $88, $106,700.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for [a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity].
