    Job Summary

    Job Summary

    Basic Function/Definition This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the pool of applicants on file to fill temporary assignments as needed. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department or division be interested in scheduling an interview.


    Minimum Qualifications Minimum:
    Bachelor's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.

    OR Associate degree, or equivalent foreign degree, plus six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment OR A valid California Community College Credential authorizing service in the appropriate subject matter OR The equivalent.

    AND Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

    Responsibilities Assignment(s) may include teaching courses in any field related to the public safety career fields, as assigned during day, evening and weekend hours.

    Other duties and responsibilities include teaching responsibilities describe in Board Policies, California Education Code and Faculty Association Contract.

    Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance mediated instructional settings.

    Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resource, and effective study skills; refer students to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate.
