Summary
While getting foster youth to college is a goal, it's not our only goal. We are looking for someone who will be motivating youth who suffer from trauma and lack of support.

The Transitional Development Specialist (TDS) will be part of the Individualized Transition Skills Program (ITSP) team and interact within a diversified staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assess educational status and career goals as well as identify areas where improvement is needed
• Identify, refer, and connect youth to appropriate college and community resources for services and information
• Plan, organize, and motivate youth to attend collegerelated activities and events
• Outreach to referred youth (ages 16 to 21) via phone calls, mailings, and facetoface conversation in order to inspire, motivate and invite them to participate in the program
• Track and monitor youth's involvement in activities and programs
• Service a caseload of 10 referred youth per month.
• Collaborate with county social workers, caseworkers, deputy probation officers, caregivers, counselors, etc. in regards to the educational goals and plans of the youth
• Provide written feedback and monthly contact reports to inhouse staff as well as The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) ) and L.A. County Probation Department

Experience:

- working with at risk youth: 2 years (required)
- providing direct services to at risk-youth: 2 years (required)


Ability to Relocate:

• Whittier, CA: Relocate before starting work (required)
