    Pioneering Medicines currently has 11 programs ongoing with plans to have more than 15 programs in 2024.

    Pioneering Medicines works with external strategic partners including Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and continues to engage in discussions on potential partnerships.


    Position Summary:
    Pioneering Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Translational Sciences leader to support a growing portfolio of assets.

    The role will involve functional accountability to support assets across a diverse range of modalities and therapeutic areas, including metabolic, cardiovascular and renal diseases.

    In addition, the candidate will work in cross-functional teams leading and supporting the activities, delivering research leadership, and managing/mentoring junior scientists.

    The successful candidate is expected to proactively build and maintain strong collaborations with flagship pioneering platform companies, and large pharma partners.

    We are seeking individuals who are analytical, goal-oriented, and timeline-sensitive, while maintaining the highest of scientific and ethical standards. Strong communication skills and comfort working in a dynamic and cross-functional team environment are highly desirable


    Responsibilities:

    • Represent the translational sciences function on drug discovery project teams, supporting assets across diverse therapeutic areas/modalities including the cardiovascular and renal therapeutic areas
    • Deliver data and strategy to support asset progression, regulatory filing and inform early clinical plans
    • Provide research leadership and translational strategic planning to support early programs
    • Participate in external partnerships and collaboration efforts with Flagship Platform companies
    • Develop platforms, identify CROs and external collaborators to grow the translational sciences functional capabilities
    • Support research operational workstreams in collaboration with cross-functional research leaders
    • Management of direct report/s
    • This position is on-site/hybrid in Cambridge, MA
    Required Qualifications & Experience


    • Ph.
    D., with demonstrated evidence of success e.g. through impactful publication/s

    • 6+ years of industry experience in Translational Research, including support of late discovery programs transitioning to the clinic (lead optimization to clinical proof-of-mechanism/proof-of-concept)
    • Deep understanding of translational research including biomarker discovery, PK/PD/efficacy relationships, dose predictions, and clinical biomarkers
    • Demonstrated expertise implementing translational biomarker strategies and influencing program direction in discovery/early clinical project teams
    • Experience generating proof-of-concept for novel clinical biomarker assays, supporting their implementation on clinical trials
    • Experience delivering data and documentation supporting IND/CTA regulatory filing
    • Scientific experience working in the cardiovascular, renal therapeutic areas are highly desirable for this position
    • Ability and interest to work across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities
    • Prior experience managing a team, including PhD and Non-PhD scientists
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Postdoctoral experience
    • Knowledge and experience of early drug discovery (target id/validation, hit-id/hit-to-lead)
    • Ability to leverage crossfunctional capabilities to derive translational insights. A strong understanding of translational bioinformatics is highly desirable
    • Experience leading or participating in discussions with KOLs
    • Experience performing scientific due diligence on assets and/or platform biotechs
    • Experience working on cross-industry collaborations
