- Manage incoming raw material quality.
- Drive supplier corrective actions through the SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process.
- Serve as a technical owner for supplier changes.
- Drive continuous improvement for assigned suppliers/commodities, including use of scorecard and audit tools.
- Proactively identify potential supplier quality problems and opportunities; assesses impacts and risks and propose potential solutions.
- Perform regular, proactive SPC trend reviews for raw materials and report out findings and corrective actions.
- Own technical problem-solving initiatives, including customer complaints and excursion investigations that intersect with raw material properties.
- Work closely with category and commodity managers in developing Business Continuity Plans (BCP), qualifying new materials, Suppliers, or Sub-suppliers as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers on material design, scaling up, supplier process, and raw material/ product data analysis.
- Interface directly with internal Engineering teams to define critical raw material specifications and communicate them to suppliers for agreement and compliance.
- Collaborate with development teams on high quality and cost-effective material solutions for the next generation of products.
- Operate with limited direction and exercise a significant degree of leadership in projects.
- 3+ years' relevant experience;
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively to internal and external personnel at all levels;
- Understanding of manufacturing unit operations across the supply chain and the relationship between unit operations;
- Experience with raw material quality and/or technical supplier ownership;
- Experience with data analysis, statistical analysis and structured problem solving methods;
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
- Strong record-keeping skills;
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred;
- Knowledge of mechanical fabrication and assembly is a plus.
- Salary is in the $100-120k/year range.

Entegris is seeking a Materials Quality Engineer for our Ultra High Purity gas purification systems business in San Luis Obispo, CA
In this role, you will own incoming raw material quality, assess supplier performance, and manage supplier quality risk. You must be a leader that can work with significant autonomy and independent judgement while you implement continuous improvement and variation reduction projects with our critical/strategic suppliers. This role will partner with the internal factory Production, Process, and Quality teams to improve understanding of raw material interactions and process impacts to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership. This role will be part of a collaborative effort towards achieving the best quality finished products for Entegris, now and in the future.
