Description
The Opportunity: Structural Engineer
Structural Engineer: A Structural Engineer has the requisite education and credentials as an engineer, scientist or technologist contributing to the development, modification and improvement of hardware, software and related services. In addition to requiring an understanding of engineering and technical disciplines, these projects involve experience with requirements analysis, concept development, engineering and manufacturing. The expected degree of expertise varies by the career level.
Period of Performance: 03/06/2024 to 01/05/2025
Project Name: Hypersonic Vehicle Development
Project Description: Support design, analysis, integration, testing, and maintenance of hypersonic aircraft structure. Contribute to conceptual and detailed structural design of high-speed vehicle primary and secondary structure. Responsibilities:
•Generate and maintain hypersonic vehicle finite element method (FEM) model
•Generate and/or expand upon FEMAP interfacing and data reduction scripts and programs
•Perform modal, linear, and nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate vehicle loads and environments
Additional Information: Qualifications:
•Strong fundamental structures background, including load paths and the ability to hand size structural components
•Perform structural hand calculations
•Experience with pre-preg composites and bonded and wet tied composite structure
•Experience with loads development
•Experience with BMI or epoxy pre-preg composites
•Experience with static structural testing
•Experience with loads development
•(Python, C++, or Matlab)
•(Siemens NX (preferred), CATIA, or Solidworks)
