- QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Physically capable of assisting students with disabilities.
- Capable of learning and understanding required courses in the handling of children with special needs.
- Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
- Physically capable of pushing and handling wheelchairs.
- Patient, yet firm.
- Ability to work as needed.
- Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- JOB GOALS:
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
- Attends courses in behavior management, physical handling of children with special needs, first aid and CPR as the courses are available.
- Continually checks and monitors the students while on the bus.
- Loads and unloads students with special needs, including students in wheelchairs. Properly and safely secures wheelchairs in apparatus, lockdowns provided.
- Buckles and unbuckles seat restraints for students who need them.
- Maintains an up-to-date list of the students being transported, as well as a history of each student's condition.
- Assists individual children in need of special attention.
- Knows and follows District policies and rules governing personnel safety and the safety of others.
- Uses good judgment and does not lift children heavier than physical condition allows.
- Knows and follows Appendix P of the Idaho School Transportation Manual for Special Education Bus Operations.
- Knows evacuation procedures for students with special needs or in wheelchairs.
- Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May assist special education teachers on field trips, etc.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Description
*TITLE: Bus Aide - Limited Full-timeTo support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement as tested with the Idaho Standards Achievement Test.
To assist in providing safe transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program.
Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 5 - $ $15.03 per hour depending on experience.
This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.
This "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.
Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
