Oakland School for the Arts (OSA) is a dynamic, thriving, diverse charter school within the Fox Theater building that serves approximately 800 students in grades 6-12.

We are seeking a full time Director of Enrollment & Special Programs to join our outstanding team.


Director of Enrollment and Special Programs


Oakland School for the Arts is seeking a systems thinking and detail oriented employee to oversee enrollment, student services and special programs.

Under the direction of the Executive Director, this employee will coordinate the enrollment process for all students entering the school and will monitor the general progress of students once enrolled.

Additionally, this employee will coordinate aspects of OSA's special programs including summer academy, after school programming, and Step It Up.


Key Responsibilities:


School Enrollment

  • Maintain consistent enrollment of students
  • Balance enrollment across 7 grade levels and 10 pathways
  • Manage annual lottery and communication for incoming students
  • Manage registration for incoming students, returning students and transfers
  • Coordinate student and family tours, orientations, and information sessions
  • Design and implement student recruitment and retention strategies
  • Coordinate information events with partnering schools
After School Program

  • Oversee onsite after school program
  • Facilitate after school enrollment and registration
  • Staff and train supervision in collaboration with Assistant Principals
  • Create after school enrichment opportunities including art workshops
  • Track finances connected to after school program
  • Maximize revenue opportunities
  • Partner with local organizations (including school districts) to develop OSA after school opportunities offsite
  • Design sustainable programs that are free of charge to qualified students
  • Staff and train instructors
  • Maximize revenue opportunities
Summer Academies

  • Coordinate and lead all aspects of OSA Summer Academies (month of June) as a strategic revenue source in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Provide on site support for instructors and students
  • Establish a master schedule including budget projections and enrollment goals
  • Coordinate registration and payment processes
  • Communicate with enrolled families
  • Hire staff and train instructors in collaboration with Executive Director
  • Coordinate marketing and recruitment efforts
  • Ensure that net revenue targets for the summer academy are met annually
Step It Up Program

  • Support the Step It Up program as a diversity recruitment strategy for OSA
  • Implement Step It Up recruitment outreach and marketing strategies
  • Create a master schedule and manage enrollment of Step It Up programs
  • Monitor and track Step It Up enrollment and attendance
  • Supervise internal and external Step It Up program staffing and compensation
  • Coordinate school tours for Step It Up applicants
  • Organize or participate in community events as a Step It Up representative
  • Coordinate with Step It Up team to organize performances at OUSD school sites
  • Coordinate with Step It Up team to communicate with families and instructors
  • Other associated responsibilities as requested by Executive Director
  • Partner with school principals to track progress of students once enrolled at OSA

Compliance
Proactive project management of SARC, LCAP, CRDC, Charter Renewal and other major reporting and compliance pieces.

  • Maintain and update calendar of compliance deadlines
  • Manage and support leadership team in project benchmarks, revision and final report
  • Completing, posting, filing and maintaining District, County, State and federally mandated records and reports
  • Participating in meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions
  • Coordinate yearly updates to accountability documents (WASC, SP, LCAP) to include data reporting and leadership narrative
  • Representing the school within community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to school environment and compliance.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4 year institution required.
Master's degree preferred.

Any combination of 10 years of relevant education, work experience and formal training that provides the knowledge and skill necessary for the position.

Three years of successful teaching in a public school environment (experience in an art school setting preferred)
California Administrative Services Credential preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of effective intervention strategies in a K-12 environment
Proficiency in spreadsheet design and input
Skill in persuasive public speaking to groups of varying sizes
Highly organized and able to prioritize and complete tasks
Experience with PowerSchool software preferred
