    DevOps Engineer

    Location: San Jose, CA, USA

    Description:

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

    • Contract-to-hire opportunity

    Work Environment: Hybrid work model - 3 days in the office, 2 days remote

    We are looking for candidates with a solid understanding of containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and integrating Azure DevOps Services with hybrid infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps services/servers.

    BD Biosciences is in search of a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer with leadership skills and a strong background in DevOps implementation to join our dynamic team.     As a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer, your responsibilities include:

    • Collaborating closely with developers to drive cultural changes and foster integration
    • Designing, architecting, and delivering the next-gen internal developer platform with an engineering team
    • Enabling engineers to deploy software components using GitOps in collaboration with technical leaders
    • Focusing on enhancing DevOps tools, software installers, and delivery processes
    • Owning and maintaining reliable environments and toolchains while ensuring clear communication with internal stakeholders
    • Implementing industry-standard techniques to facilitate better developer feedback and enablement
    • Monitoring and enhancing the capacity of production environment infrastructure
    • Identifying and addressing stability, performance, and scalability challenges

    Essential Requirements:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or related field
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in Software Engineering roles as a DevOps Platform engineer
    • Expertise in managing software build infrastructure with tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TravisCI, TeamForge, etc.
    • Proficiency in container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
    • Experience with IaC technologies like Helm, Packer, and Terraform
    • Strong background in creating, maintaining, and supporting CI/CD pipelines
    • Proficient in version control and source control management using Git
    • Experience deploying and managing SCM toolchains like Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube, Nexus, TFS, Azure DevOps
    • Understanding of programming principles and Versioning structures
    • Knowledge of scripting languages including Python, Bash, and PowerShell, among others
    • Experience with system management technologies like Puppet, Ansible, Salt, or Chef
    • Familiarity with Microsoft and/or Linux system administration and networking
    • Experience in managing VMware-based virtualization environments or similar setups
    • Understanding of test-driven development, software configuration management, and automated testing

    Highly Desirable Requirements:

    • Experience working in regulated industries
    • Expertise in managing CI/CD pipelines for diverse software assets
    • Familiarity with Crossplane and Kubernetes CRDs
    • Skills in creating VM templates, deploying at scale, and tracking revisions
