    About Electrified Thermal Solutions

    Boilers, furnaces, and kilns are the engines of our industrial economy, providing heat to melt steel, form cement, and transform chemicals.

    But historically reaching this high-temperature heat required burning fossil fuels, making the industrial sector responsible for 25% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

    Electrified Thermal Solutions has a simple and massive goal: to electrify industry.

    To do this, we are building the Joule Hive thermal battery: an energy storage technology that converts and stores cheap, renewable electricity as high-temperature heat.

    Our vision is to mitigate gigatons of CO2 emissions per year by deploying the Joule Hive at every industrial furnace, turbine, boiler, and kiln.

    We are grateful for the support from the US DOE ARPA-E, Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Activate, National Science Foundation, Clean Energy Ventures, Starlight Ventures, and the Grantham Foundation.

    About the Role

    As a Lead Structural Design Engineer, you will lead structural design and analyses for the first-of-a-kind demonstration of the Joule Hive thermal battery and subsequent products.

    You will play a key role in ensuring the design is structurally sound and optimized for performance, cost, and timeline.

    You will report directly to the VP of Engineering.
    What You'll Do at ETS

    Lead the structural design and analyses for the Joule Hive thermal battery and subsequent products/projects.
    Lead the development of structural analysis methodologies to ensure the right analyses are done properly.
    Manage and review structural work from contractors.
    Collaborate with the rest of the design team to enable an optimal design that meets requirements.
    Work with the R&D team to determine the required test for model validations.
    Keep up with the latest tools and programs; perform technical research and self-training as needed.
    What You'll Bring to ETS

    Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
    At least 5 years of industrial design experience.
    At least 2 years experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural analyses, ideally using ANSYS Mechanical
    Have experience performing creep and fatigue analyses, ideally for high-temperature ceramics.
    Devise creative design solutions without losing focus on the defined scope and timeline.
    Experience creating models and drawing with 3D CAD software, ideally Solidworks.
    Experience bringing a design from concept to manufacturing ready.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    Organized & detail-oriented
    Collaborative, adaptable, and loves to challenge assumptions.
