JOB SUMMARY
Cost Analyst/Estimator is knowledgeable about various metal fabrication processes and methodologies and process methodologies. Is able to read and interpret details on blueprint, ask appropriate questions, lead suppliers to optimize the turnaround time, and ascertain fair and reasonableness of the prices from suppliers. Will analyze prices received, compare against the available targets, and determine price delta.
With the assistance from Manufacturing Engineering, Cost Analyst/Estimator will scrub the BOM and ensure accuracy prior to sending Request for Quotes (RFQs).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for timely processing of RFQs to suppliers, the Cost Analyst/Estimator sends out the quote packages, and follows up with suppliers, and compiles the CBOM.
" Working closely with pricing and manufacturing engineering, as the focal point, will be responsible for managing RFQs.
" Working closely with purchasing leads and buyers for coordination/alignment of buying strategies at the proposal stage.
" Will review for anomalies in the BOM, communicate with design and manufacturing engineering to fix (if needed) the anomalies to minimize the potential time lost.
" Must work well in a team environment, be comfortable working with all levels of management, and possess excellent communication skills.
" Knowledge in machining, sheet metal fabrication, chemical processes, mil-spec/aerospace hardware and CCA's/electrical assemblies is desired.
" Should stay abreast of latest technologies and techniques within the defense industry by attending seminars, online courses and printed periodicals.
" Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and DFAR in areas of compliance requirements, price analysis, justification and documentation is a plus.
" Experience in using ERP/MRP package is a plus.
" Experience in a manufacturing, preferably in defense, automotive and medical environment is a plus.
MUST BE A US PERSON: US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident
MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED (proof of being fully vaccinated will be required)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S./BSc) from four-year College or university or equivalent; and 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training.
The Purchasing department is a fast paced environment and requires a high level of organizational skills, efficient use of time, the ability to perform under pressure, manage multiple projects and continually meet deadlines. Experience in high-mix, low volume aerospace/defense manufacturing environment desired. Familiarity with UCC/FAR and DFAR requirements is desired. Requires knowledge of purchasing processes, policies, procedures and an understanding of manufacturing processes. Direct experience in procurement of machined parts, sheet metal fabrication, MIL-SPEC hardware, and metal finishes is needed. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications is required. Must be skilled in negotiation techniques.
