    The Preparatory Math Specialist/PAWS Coordinator-WP collaborates with students to enhance math skills, assists in math placement assessments for new students, and manages the Math and Science Center at the Grizzly Tutoring Lab.

    The role involves overseeing the center's operations, maintaining a conducive learning environment, training undergraduate math tutors, planning staff development, evaluating effectiveness, promoting services, and ensuring communication with academic personnel.

    Additionally, the Specialist provides academic support for student-athletes, coordinating counseling, mentoring, and tutoring to ensure academic and athletic success.

    As an Academic Affiliate, the Specialist teaches mathematics during fall and spring semesters.

    Description of Primary Duties
    • Provides tutorial assistance to students
    • Ensures availability through scheduled office hours
    • Contributes to course organization and administration
    • Supports math skill development through evaluation and workshops
    • Oversees tutoring programs effectiveness
    • Supervises student tutors and maintains resources
    • Expands Math and Science Center's outreach
    • Manages the center's budget effectively
    • Develops strategies for student athlete success
    • Serves as a success coach for teams
    • Monitors academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes
    • Fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment
    • Engages in continuous professional development
    • Contributes to overall center and athletics success
    Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelor's degree (Mathematics preferred)
    • Experience: Minimum one year of tutoring/teaching experience, college sports participation preferred
    • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural abilities
    • Certification: High school math teaching certificate if degree not in Mathematics
    • Other: Evening and weekend work may be required
