    Description
    We are seeking a talented Host to join Dōgon. We are elated to partner with renowned Chef Kwame Onwuachi.

    He is returning to the nation's capital to bring a bold and imaginative restaurant concept to Salamander Washington DC in Spring 2024.

    The ideal candidate will have a welcoming demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a strong attention to detail to provide a seamless experience for our guests.

    As the Host, you will be the first point of contact for guests, managing reservations, coordinating seating, and ensuring a warm and inviting atmosphere in the restaurant


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Welcome guests as they arrive at the restaurant, greet them with a warm and friendly demeanor, and assist with coat check if applicable.
    • Manage reservations, whether received via phone, email, or in person, ensuring accurate recording of guest information, preferences, and special requests.
    • Coordinate seating arrangements efficiently, taking into account table availability, server sections, and guest preferences.
    • Communicate effectively with the waitstaff, kitchen team, and management to ensure a smooth and organized seating process.
    • Provide guests with estimated wait times and offer a comfortable waiting area if necessary.
    • Escort guests to their tables, present menus, and explain any specials or promotions to enhance their dining experience.
    • Monitor the dining room flow, anticipate guest needs, and make adjustments to seating arrangements to accommodate walk-in guests and reservations.
    • Handle guest inquiries, reservations changes, and special requests with professionalism and attention to detail.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host stand, lobby area, and entrance to create a welcoming and hospitable environment.
    • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure a seamless and exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous experience as a Host or Hostess in a fine dining restaurant or upscale hospitality setting is preferred.
    • Strong customer service skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality, and the ability to engage guests and create a positive first impression.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in reservation management systems, such as OpenTable or Resy, and basic computer skills.
    • Attention to detail, with the ability to maintain composure under pressure and handle challenging situations with tact and professionalism.
    • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
