    Description:

    The TEN:TACLES Initiative (Transgender Educational Network: Theory in Action for Creativity, Liberation, Empowerment and Service) is a three-year-long grant-funded project supported by the Mellon Foundations Higher Learning Initiatives. It regrants funds to working groups and study groups that bring humanities-oriented scholarship in transgender studies to bear on social transformation activism that results in more accurate narratives about trans and non-binary lives.

    Job Responsibilities:

    The program manager will support the Principal Investigator (PI)/Director and, with PI/Director supervision and in coordination with GLBT Historical Society operations staff, have primary responsibility for managing all day-to-day aspects of the TEN:TACLES Initiative. Specific responsibilities will include:

    • Serving as first point of contact for the Initiative
    • Primary responsibility for all routine grant administration activities
    • Primary liaison with grantees and supervision of subcontractors or vendors
    • Responsible for establishing re-granting agreements, ensuring funds are used in alignment with requirements
    • Maintaining and updating the Initiative website
    • Maintaining a social media presence for the Initiative
    • Organizing four in-person/hybrid networking events over three years for Initiative participants
    • Facilitating communication between regrantees, committees, public, PI/Director, GLBT Historical Society
    • Coordinating meetings of steering and advisory committees
    • Assisting PI and committees with RFP and regranting selection process
    • Representing the Initiative whenever appropriate in public or professional meetings
    • Other administrative support tasks as assigned

    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience coordinating community-based, micro-granting, or academic
    • Experience working with transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming communities
    • Preferred familiarity with transgender studies as an academic field
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
    • Experience working with diverse populations and commitment to cultural humility
    • Experience developing and monitoring budgets
    • Organized and detail-oriented with proven time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail
    • Ability to take initiative and carry out job responsibilities without close and immediate supervision.
    • Strong computer skills: Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel),
    • Proficiency in web hosting applications and social media platforms
    • Must be available to work some weekends and some evenings, as needed

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to communicate via phone, video calls, and e-mail
    • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

    Postion Details:

    This position is based at the GLBT Historical Society; ability to work on site as needed is required.

    Hours: 37.5 hours/week

    Temporary Grant Funded Employment: July 1, 2024-June 30, 2027.
