Duties:


  • Direct a program of studies and research in the development of new methodologies and techniques in mathematical and/or applied statistics applicable to the design and analysis of biomedical research studies.
  • Oversee basic research in mathematical and applied statistics and probability, including development of new methods or evaluation and comparison of performance of existing methods.
  • Develop new techniques and methodologies to address statistical problems in cancer research and related studies.
  • Develop a research agenda and propose a schedule of research priorities, with emphasis on projects with statistical content.
  • Provide technical assistance and scientific/statistical review to advise staff who manage or oversee contracts or grants.
  • Oversee the preparation of results of statistical investigations for publication in scientific journals and presentation at scientific meetings.

Qualifications:


In order to qualify, you must meet the following minimum education requirement:

A degree that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics (of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics).

Courses acceptable toward meeting the mathematics course requirement must have included at least four of the following:

differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite.

Courses in mathematical statistics or probability theory with a prerequisite of elementary calculus or more advanced courses will be accepted toward meeting the mathematics requirements, with the provision that the same course cannot be counted toward both the mathematics and the statistics requirement;

  • You will receive credit for all experience material to the position, including experience gained in religious, civic, welfare, service, and organizational activities, regardless of whether you received pay.
