- Connect individuals requiring assistance to community services.
- Support guests in the peer drop-in center by linking them to necessary services to enhance their overall well-being.
- Advocate for members' health and ensure that all personal health goals are integrated into individualized treatment plans.
- Encourage substance abuse prevention, smoking cessation, nutritional guidance, weight reduction, and increased physical activity.
- Offer health education to members and their families.
- Provide support for self-management and aid in the development of self-management strategies.
- Promote self-direction and skill development in medication management and adherence.
- Deliver preventive education.
- Assist members in accessing necessary self-help and peer support services.
- Help members identify and establish social support systems.
- Support medication and treatment adherence.

- Preferred associate or bachelor's degree in human services or a related field
- Must have personal experience with mental illness and be willing to appropriately share aspects of their journey with others in recovery.

- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to various client scenarios.
- Adept at collecting and evaluating information accurately, understanding ethical standards in behavioral healthcare, and applying teaching/learning theories.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to present oneself professionally.
- Capable of establishing effective relationships with healthcare providers, external agencies, colleagues, and the community.
- Sensitive in interactions with clients, adept at managing multiple priorities, staying composed under pressure, and adapting to a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Proficient in using computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) applications.

Peer Recovery Specialist
Full-Time + Benefits

The Peer Support Specialist provides peer support services in a Peer Drop In Center setting. Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides recovery-oriented services for adults with mental illnesses. The Peer Support Specialists are integral in supporting individuals during a crisis, helping individuals learn how to view crisis and stress differently, and supporting individuals through their recovery. Peer Support Specialists support individuals in using wellness tools and connect individuals to other services and supports in the community as appropriate. The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide one-on-one peer support as well as wellness groups. The Peer Support Specialist must be a consumer who is in recovery from a mental illness and has (or is able to within 6 months of hire) completed 20 hours of training and passed a competency exam based on that Peer Support Training. Peer Support Specialist will assist in care coordination efforts, health promotion, individual and Family Support, Referrals to Community Agencies, etc.
