    Description

    Our client, a well-funded, late-stage mission driven company, seeks to hire a Senior Litigation Counsel to join their growing team.

    This position will be located on the East Coast and can accommodate remote work (note:
    candidates must currently reside on the East Coast).


    You will manage a variety of personal injury, product, and business litigation at one of the fastest growing startups in history.

    A critical element of this role will be to drive strategy with outside counsel to mitigate exposure to the company.

    What you'll do:

    • Anticipate and address legal risks in business-centric ways by developing strategies to solve problems, while strengthening partnerships and business objectives
    • Lead on driving strategy on litigated cases & overall governance of outside counsel to ensure cost-efficient case management
    • Direct the analysis of claims in stages of pre-litigation and litigation to assess liability and damage exposure
    • Build & implement effective litigation strategies, including discovery and early settlement resolution when warranted
    • Guide the litigation team on setting annual defense budgets and exposure reserves
    • Represent the company in mediations and court hearings. Attend arbitrations and trials as needed
    • Review and revise motions drafted by outside counsel with some drafting required in house as needed
    • Develop strategy for identifying and preparing for corporate witness depositions and attend depositions of Lime's corporate witnesses
    • Lead the collection of information internally and cross-functionally & prepare final drafts to discovery
    • Lead litigation team on cross-functional collaborations, including partnering with Trust & Safety + Claims team to enhance litigation processes and build mitigation processes
    • Additional responsibilities as needed

    About you:

    • 8+ years of solid experience in litigating general liability claims; strong preference for candidates with experience in product liability litigation or municipality defense
    • Preference for those who have held similar in-house roles with an established company
    • Significant experience managing cases through pleadings, motion practice, discovery, dispute resolution, and arbitration or trial
    • Solid case evaluation abilities and critical thinking skills
    • Mediation, discovery, and motion practice experience required
    • The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
    • Passion for the company and mission
    • Ability to work well under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision
    • Provide practical, business-centric advice to clients
    • Team player and able to work collaboratively and independently
    • Multi-state experience a plus
    This is an incredible opportunity to join a rapidly growing company poised for significant success. Compensation is targeted at a base salary range of $144k to $220k, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

    Base salary and overall compensation will be determined by number of years of directly relevant experience, history of success, and geographical region.
