Position Summary

This position reports to the Associate General Counsel and is part of the Legal and Compliance Department where initiative, enthusiasm, and collaboration are critical.

Our primary focus is on helping protect the company against undue risk exposure.

The Junior Litigation Counsel will handle a variety of litigation and collections matters and support the department's overall legal and compliance objectives.

A Day in the Life of a Junior Litigation Counsel

Supports various business departments including, but not limited to, asset management, servicing, and collections
Negotiates prelitigation disputes, including counterparty outreach, settlements / workouts, and intercreditor arrangements
Handles litigations, including motion preparation, court appearances, and case management
Advises company on thirdparty and vendor relationships, involving matters of efficiency, reporting, and asset management.
Stays current on regulatory, legal and industry developments.
Updates financing agreements, internal processes, and documentation.
Support General Counsel and Associate General Counsel in companylevel initiations and special projects.

What You Have

JD with a minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience, preferably at a significant law firm, within an inhouse legal department, and/or as workout specialist in the financial services industry (commercial lending or alternative finance experience, a plus).
Commercial negotiation skills
Experience in financial transactions
Familiarity with commercial lending and salesbased financings
Propensity to learn business requirements quickly, analyze legal and commercial risks, and propose creative, businessoriented solutions
Proactive approach to legal and risk mitigation for growing companies
Superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
Skill in handling evolving priorities in a dynamic environment in a thoughtful and practical manner.
Ability to relate well to coworkers and build effective business partnerships.
