- Responsible for the care and safety of all residents, ensuring that individual care plans are current, implemented and revised as necessary
- Responsible for a comprehensive assessment of a resident's physical, and/or mental status when indicated; and for appropriate follow up as indicated by the assessment
- Responsible for the supervision of the team leaders and certified nursing assistants, nursing assistant trainees and for the completion of probationary and annual evaluations
- Responsible for arranging the coverage for call offs and authorizing overtime only when necessary (in the absence of the DON, ADON and staffing coordinator)
- Responsible for addressing family/visitor concerns as well as assuring the safety/security of the building
- Supervises waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy
- Receives medication deliveries from the pharmacy
- Responsible for ensuring that the designated representative is notified of any change in the resident's condition or plan of care.
- Is responsible for ensuring that the physician is informed of any change in the resident's condition, abnormal lab results, diagnostic test results, consultant recommendation, etc.
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Current New York State Professional License (LPN or RN)
- Experience in long-term care facility preferred
- Able to interpret patient information and make critical decisions about necessary actions
- Ability to supervise and work well with and show respect toward other health care personnel (i.e., CNAs, LPNs, physicians, etc.), residents and their family members
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness and kindness
- Physical endurance for frequent activity; ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
