- Establishes goals, evaluates budget requests, and sets priorities to achieve targets.
- Manages statewide active surveillance systems for HIV/AIDS.
- Develops and implements program activities, quality assurance measures, and grant proposals.
- Works collaboratively with other managers to achieve strategic goals.
- Acts as an expert in HIV epidemiology and surveillance at various events and committees.
- EJF 1: Manages all activities of the HIV Epidemiology and Surveillance Group with a focus on surveillance system operations.
- Oversees database management and data quality assurance.
- Acts as a statewide expert on HIV surveillance procedures.
- Evaluates and enhances surveillance systems.
- EJF 2: Supervises Group staff, provides guidance, and ensures staff training.
- Maintains adherence to agency policies and manages the Group budget.
- Develops and submits budget requests and travel plans.
- EJF 3: Oversees HIV/AIDS Surveillance Cooperative Agreements/Grants.
- Submits proposals, monitors progress, and liaises with grantors.
- Participates in related conferences and activities.
- EJF 4: Plans and evaluates visits to health departments to provide technical assistance.
- EJF 5: Represents the Group/program at various events and prepares funding requests.
- EJF 6: Engages in disaster response and Continuity of Operations activities.
- Knowledge of public health and disease prevention.
- Skills in data analysis, program evaluation, and software usage.
- Ability to manage a disease surveillance program and supervise technical staff.
- Ability to interpret epidemiologic information and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and manage grants and contracts.
