    Job Summary:

    Client is a corporate practice offers a blend of comprehensive legal expertise and practical business counselling that enables our clients to clarify goals, find solutions, and achieve results across varied business transactions. Our corporate attorneys advise clients on a wide variety of issues affecting commercial, financial, and industrial enterprises, both publicly and privately owned.

    Responsibilities:

    • Client is seeking a technical advisor or patent agent with a Ph.D. in the biological sciences to join our Boston headquarters.
    • This person will perform a variety of patent-related activities, primarily in the areas of patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis and due diligence.
    • This person will work with clients on innovative and cutting-edge biotechnology to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios.
    • Manage patent portfolios and coordinate prosecution with foreign associates in various jurisdictions
    • Draft office action responses and prosecute patent applications
    • Work with scientists and inventors to draft patent applications
    • Assess scientific literature, patents and patent application documents in various biology fields
    • Conduct patent-landscape and freedom-to-operate searches and assist with analysis
    • Work with investors to conduct IP diligence for potential investments
    • Assist with IP diligence on biotech initial public offerings and other capital markets transactions

    Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related fields
    • Patent prosecution experience preferred
    • Experience drafting patent applications de novo from invention disclosure forms and/or inventor interviews
    • Ability to present scientific concepts, analysis, reasoning and conclusions to scientists and non-scientists
    • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, stay organized and exercise attention to detail
    • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team setting
