    **Objective**

    Foxworth-Galbraith Lumber Company has an opening for a Building Materials Buyer. This position is not remote and will be located at our General Office in Plano, TX. Relocation assistance is available. The Buyer will purchase building materials (lumber, drywall, roofing, etc.) and related products for assigned regions and product categories. The Buyer will have more independent decision making responsibilities and report directly to the Vice President of Purchasing. The ideal candidate will have previous experience buying/purchasing building materials. A candidate with industry contacts is preferred.

    The salary range for this position is $61, $82,000.00/yr depending on experience.

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** The following are the essential duties and responsibilities of the Job. Other duties, responsibilities, or tasks may be assigned as required by management.

    Participate in contract negotiations and ensure that orders include correct quantities and comply with quality standards.

    Research current and potential products for purchase and inclusion in the product line. Evaluate product characteristics against Company client profile; negotiate price, vendor services provided, and product availability.

    Monitor and adjust accordingly the distribution warehouse sales, stock levels, and transfer costs.

    Communicate with operations and regional offices to identify purchasing opportunities.

    Confer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as availability and delivery schedule.

    Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.

    Perform any other duties, responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

    **Education and/or Experience**

    Bachelors Degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Industry knowledge of building materials preferred.

    Previous experience as a Buyer in the Building Materials industry.

    Knowledge of ethical purchasing practices.

    Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

    **Qualifications**

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

    Ability to solve practical problems, deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Ability to operate database and internet software and order processing systems.
