    Position Summary

    The After School Program Staff will assist in the planning and running of afterschool program for children grades kindergarten-6th and teen programs for middle school and high school children living in the YWCA shelter and KRH Housing Program. Collaborate with school staff about students needing attendance support. Additionally, this staff will assist with occasional evening activities. Generally, hours will be until 6:30pm and 7:30pm.During the summer hours would be around 9:00am-5:30pm

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Assist Afterschool Coordinator in planning and managing the daily activities and behavioral management for the after-school, summer camp, and teen programs.
    • Assist in Teen Program; mentoring teens while providing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
    • Teach, reinforce, and model age-appropriate social skills, and provide mentoring and emotional support.
    • Provide constructive feedback, redirection, and discipline related to individual behaviors.
    • Assist in the distribution and collection of enrollment materials, ROIs and record daily attendance.
    • Report to Afterschool Coordinator or the Children's Services Assistant Director any parent or child concerns or complaints, suspicions of child abuse/neglect, extreme acting out behaviors, health and safety concerns.
    • Maintain compliance with Child Care Licensing, Federal Food Program, and YWCA standards.
    • Assist Afterschool Coordinator in preparing for daily curriculum, and replenishing program supplies as needed.
    • Uphold and act in accordance with the mission of the organization, vision, values, and strategic direction of the organization.
    • Understand and follow all established organizational and program-related policies, procedures, and protocols.
    • Maintain all certifications and licensing related to role, program licensing, and grant standards including but not limited to CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers Permit, Top Star, etc.
    • Assist with students who have attendance issues, and work with the McKinney Specialist to improve attendance of students residing on the YWCA campus. This may include home visits, parent meetings, or implementing incentive programs.
    • Be in regular contact with the SLC School District Administration to help bridge gaps in communication between parents and school staff.

    1. High School Diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred.
    2. Must have at least two years of experience working with children and be knowledgeable about the issues of domestic violence and child development.
    3. Collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues and staff throughout the organization.
    4. Able to model strengths-based, empowering, respectful behavior.
    5. Skillful in open communication, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and crisis management.
    6. Committed to providing trauma-informed direct services to women and children who have experienced domestic violence.
    7. Fluency in English (speaking and writing) required, with fluency in Spanish desirable.
    8. 21 years of age or older preferred
    9. Ability to work assigned hours regularly.
    10. Ability to work respectfully with people of diverse ages, races, ethnicities, nationalities, socio-economic levels, beliefs and lifestyles.
    11. Must be able to pass BCI, meet I-9 requirements, and, if driving on agency business, have a valid Utah driver's license, automobile insurance, and motor vehicle record.
